California State University, Fullerton has the largest enrollment of any California state university and commonly goes by the name Cal State Fullerton. Also known as CSU, Fullerton or CSUF, Cal State Fullerton was named Orange County State College when the first 452 students were admitted to the school for fall courses in September 1959. Later in 1964 CSU underwent a second name change, this time to be called the California State College at Fullerton. The university was renamed a third and final time in 1972, when it finally came to be known as California State University, Fullerton.
